Most people are interested in eating better. But it can feel like a tremendous challenge to improve your nutrition. It is not necessary to change everything about your diet to do this though. There are some simple methods that will help you eat a nutritious diet.

Use cauliflower instead of potatoes. Boil cauliflower in a pot on the stove until very tender. Then, the cauliflower in a mixer or food processor with butter, light sour cream, salt and pepper, and blend until it reaches a smooth texture similar to mashed potatoes. It has far fewer carbohydrates and calories, as well as more nutrients and vitamins.

Try to include more tomatoes in your meals. The biggest benefit from tomatoes is their high concentration of lycopene. Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that plays a role in the prevention of cancer cell formation. Research has shown that tomatoes also have potential benefits in the prevention of heart disease and lowering high cholesterol.

For young kids you want to make eating healthy fun for them. If they don’t like vegetables, try cooking them differently or serving them with a sauce your child likes. You can also try cutting foods into different shapes like stars, dinosaurs, etc. so that the kid can have fun while eating healthy.

Allow your kids to help you choose healthy foods while grocery shopping. Allow them to pick the fruits and vegetables they would like to have. By doing this, they are going to be much more likely to consume these foods. Kids may also try new foods this way, especially if they spot brightly colored fruits or vegetables.

AS with any other worthwhile pursuit, a healthy lifestyle takes some effort at first. Fortunately, you can break this undertaking down into little steps. Add up a whole bunch of tiny changes, and you can still get to big results. Advice like this will help get you to a place where you are eating well.
